Psychiatric Nursing

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (also sometimes called "Mental Health Nurse Practitioners") work in primary care facilities as well as in hospitals and community health centers to evaluate and provide care for patients who have psychiatric disorders as well as medical conditions or substance abuse problems. Psychiatric nurses provide psychosocial and physical assessment of their patients, come up with treatment plans, and provide continued management of their care. They may also serve as consultants or as educators for families and staff.
