Barry University's Division of Nursing will prepare you to meet current challenges in the field with confidence, knowledge, and creativity. Our approach will encourage you to think critically, expand your skills, and find answers - giving you a basis from which you can assume a leadership role in nursing.
In the past several years, Barry's nursing program has celebrated a more than 90% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN. A great majority of our alumni also report employment within two months of graduation. They serve as chief nursing officers, vice presidents of nursing, chief operating officers, executive directors, nurse managers, clinicians, and bedside nurses. Alumni sit on governmental boards, and many have received federal grants.
Faculty have served as invited presenters at local, national, and international conferences, including the prestigious STTI International Nursing Research Congress. Some of Barry's nursing faculty accomplishments include publications in peer-reviewed journals and research studies, such as: Banks Multicultural Model: A Framework for Integrating Multiculturalism into Nursing Curricula, Dr. Jesse Colin; The Legalities of Students' Use of Technology in Clinical Settings, Dr. Pegge Bell; Promoting Student Leadership Through Community Service, Dr. Linda Perkel; and Developing an Outcomes Management Program in a School of Nursing, by Dr. Claudette Spalding.
Clinicals are held in some of the nation's best hospitals, such as Jackson Memorial Hospital, Baptist Health facilities, and Miami Children's Hospital. In addition, the diversity of this region will help prepare you to respond to the needs of patients from various cultures, religions, age groups, lifestyles, and socio-economic sectors.
As a Catholic university affiliated with the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan, Barry incorporates quality academics with a compassionate approach that will encourage you to reach your potential and to make a difference in the world.
Whether you are a high school graduate; an RN seeking a BSN program; a post-baccalaureate RN who wants to earn an advance practice degree as a nurse administrator, nurse educator, or nurse practitioner; or a master's-prepared nurse seeking a doctoral degree, you will find a program designed to fit your needs and industry trends.
