Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

FPB’s BSN program is one of the few in the country that begins the clinical experience during the first semester of freshman year. Students complete over 1,600 clinical hours, far exceeding the clinical experience offered at other schools of nursing. They provide healthcare services to children and families, collectively providing approximately 20,000 hours of service to local schools each year. With opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research projects with senior faculty, they can explore various health issues and may take part in international health care activities during their senior year.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is similar in concept to practice doctorates in other professions such as medicine (MD), law (JD) and dentistry (DDM). As the innovator of the original doctorate in nursing practice, FPB is the foremost leader in DNP education and is one of the first nursing schools in the country to offer this program.

FPB’s DNP program is flexible in meeting the needs of distance education students, with an innovative executive format and cohort program through partnerships with several academic institutions and hospitals around the country. The intensive course format prepares students for leadership roles on the front lines of the nursing profession.

Students are admitted to the DNP program from three entry points:

  • Graduate Entry pre-licensure (for those without a nursing degree)
  • Advanced nursing practice MSN (for those with an RN)
  • Practice doctorate DNP (for those who have already attained a masters in nursing)

PhD in Nursing

The primary purpose of FPB’s PhD program is to prepare scientists who initiate and conduct research relevant to nursing. Expertise in clinical nursing and competence in research are required to prepare scholars to disseminate knowledge into clinical practice and nursing education. Students work closely with an FPB mentor to develop their expertise in a focused area of research They also have opportunities to become full-fledged collaborators at FPB’s Centers of Excellence and take advantage of strong clinical and research affiliations with some of the best hospitals in the county.
