D'Youville College

D'Youville College is a private, co-educational, liberal arts and professional college located in residential Buffalo, New York, delivering skills, confidence, leadership and a global view in a caring environment. Founded in 1908 by the Grey Nuns, D'Youville College has long been considered a leader among colleges for its progressive and comprehensive programs. With a student population of approximately 3000, D'Youville offers its students the diversity and resources of a much larger college and the attention and accessibility that is usually attributed to a small college. Our campus offers students comprehensive facilities, modern computer labs and state-of-the-art medical labs. Our teaching faculty are the core of what makes D'Youville College a special place.

  • Direct Entry - All students accepted into these health care programs do not have to reapply to the upper division or advance degree. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in their undergraduate coursework to continue to the advance level of the program.

Business Department

The Business program provides a well-rounded business education to prepare students for future job placement. The faculty have years of business experience outside the classroom so the courses go beyond academic theories and push students to acquire knowledge in a way that is useful in practical business settings. The faculty to student ratio in our program is low and full time faculty members teach majority of the courses. The professors will know you by name and will be available for assistance as you pursue your degree.

D'Youville College has been educating nurses since 1942. All of your classes, labs and seminars will be taught by talented, dedicated faculty members who are at the forefront of their fields -- never by teacher aides or assistants. We take your education very seriously, and we're committed to educating you for life.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

The four-year Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) prepares the student as a generalist for entry level practice and for the State Board NCLEX-RN Examination. The undergraduate program has a strong liberal arts foundation that is correlated with the professional nursing courses. Students begin their clinical courses in the sophomore year and complete a variety of clinical experiences prior to graduation.

Five Year Combined BSN/MS

This program enables students to complete both the BSN and master's with a choice of clinical focus in a combined choice of study. This program is shorter in length than the two programs of study if pursued separately. This program further allows the students at the master's level to customize their clinical focus and provides them flexibility in pursuing their own career goals. This program lets you pay undergraduate tuition for the graduate curriculum. This program is another direct admission program meaning you do not have to re-apply to the master's or advanced level by maintaining an overall GPA average of 3.0.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

This program provides students with the opportunity to creatively respond to the ever changing health needs of society. Students can choose from a wide variety of advanced practice roles including primary care given, consultant, entrepreneur, researcher, manager or educator. The minimum credit hours required in this Master of Science in Nursing with a choice of clinical focus is 30 credit hours. However the length of time to complete will depend on whether the student chooses full-time or part-time study. Classes meet one day a week on Friday's.

MS Community Health Nursing

This 42-54 credit Master of Science degree program prepares nurses for advanced practice as clinical nurse specialists in community health nursing with an emphasis in either education or management. Clinical nurse specialists are prepared as practitioners of nursing science. Students study advanced practice principles of nursing science, community health and nursing theories and research.By virtue of their advanced education and expanded practice knowledge, clinical nurse specialists in community health nursing provide highly expert nursing care to communities with complex health needs. Classes are offered after 4:00 p.m. evenings and/or all day Friday. Students can attend on either a full- or part-time basis. The student to faculty ratio is 13:1. Overnight dormitory housing (space permitting) is available for Friday students at a nominal fee. Clinical placements and internships are convenient to areas of residence or employment.

MS Family Nurse Practitioner

The 40-42 credit hour Master of Science degree and the 28-credit hour post-master's certificate in family nurse practitioner offer preparation for nurses to provide primary care for patients of all ages. Students will learn to assess, diagnose and prescribe treatments for individuals and families in need of care. Preceptorships include 200 hours in women's health, 200 hours in pediatrics and 300 hours in adult settings. Classes are offered Thursday afternoons/evenings and during the day on Friday. The student to faculty ratio is 12:1.

RN-to-BSN (2yr)

A special curriculum designed for licensed RNs wishing to complete their BSN capitalizes on prior knowledge and experience. Registered nurses can enhance their potential for employment or advancement by pursuing a bachelor's in nursing. You'll focus on interdisciplinary studies, health care studies, management preparation and community-based nursing to prepare for a variety of career paths -- many of which are open to you only if you hold a bachelor's or advanced degree. BSN's are frequently sought for positions in home health care, public health, or as head nurses or nursing supervisors. Registered nurses enrolled in the BSN program have the option of completing three of four major courses via distance learning. RNs that enter this program receive a 50 percent tuition discount for the bachelor's portion of the program.
