Lakeview reflects a proud heritage of over one hundred years in providing excellence in nursing education. Lakeview College of Nursing is a specialized, single purpose institution of higher learning which offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing Program. Students enrolled in the program have their choice of two campuses: one in Danville, IL, and the other in Charleston, IL, in partnership with Eastern Illinois University.

Accelerated BSN

Lakeview College of Nursing offers an Accelerated Track to all basic students. Students do not have to hold a prior baccalaureate degree to accelerate the program. This 16-month plan includes a summer session.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

This program is designed to meet the needs of men and women from a broad range of ages and backgrounds. The primary focus is to promote caring attitudes and behaviors in the professional nurse.

The graduate will be prepared at the baccalaureate level in nursing to function as a generalist who uses evidence based research in implementing the nursing process when caring for a diverse, multicultural society in a variety of health care settings.

The major roles the graduate will be prepared to assume are direct provider, planner/coordinator, manager, and member of the nursing profession and interprofessional health care team. The baccalaureate program is designed to prepare the graduate for professional nursing practice within the legal framework of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act or state of desired licensure practice.

The graduate will be a contributor to the nursing profession through caring, learning, service, and research. The graduate professional nurse is one who has the leadership skills to can change the economic, environmental, social, and political future of a global society.

Traditional BSN Track

The Traditional Track at Lakeview College of Nursing offers students the opportunity to complete the baccalaureate program within a traditional time frame (2 years). Students may enter fall or spring semester with junior standing after completing general education and prerequisite requirements at another accredited college or university. Students continue to attend fall and spring semesters completing the required nursing courses. Students may also experience a summer internship/externship if desired as this plan does not include a summer session.

LPN-BSN

Lakeview College of Nursing also has tracks for those who are already working in the nursing profession. Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses will receive credit for their previous education and skills through exemptions, proficiencies and portfolio options.

RN-BSN
