US News & World Report continually ranks the UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing graduate programs in the top 10 percent of nursing schools. The college is highly respected as a leader in the development of innovative academic and research programs and for its pioneering work in community nursing centers. It was established in 1965 and today is the largest nursing school in Wisconsin, offering Bachelor of Science, Master of Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in nursing. Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

You've come to the right place if you're looking for an excellent Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BS) Program. UWM offers its coursework at three different campuses: UW-Milwaukee, UW-Parkside and UW-Washington County in West Bend. You can complete the pre-nursing course work at the campus of your choice. Once admitted to the Nursing Major, clinical assignments vary based on the campus attended.

BS-to-PhD in Nursing

UW-Milwaukee also offers a track for nurses with bachelor's degrees to pursue the PhD degree. Similar to our on-campus PhD option, courses are taught predominantly in a classroom setting. This program combines foundation courses from our MN and PhD programs allowing students to pursue research and scholarship goals at the doctoral level.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

For those with a baccalaureate degree in nursing who would like to obtain a terminal degree with a clinical focus, the BS to DNP is a great option. This 64 credit program allows students to focus in one of the following clinical specialization: Family Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist (options for focus in Adult, Childbearing, Pediatrics, or Psych-Mental Health). Students may also select non-clinical specialization in either systems or aggregate specialties including Community Health and System Leadership.

Joint MSN/MBA

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing and the School of Business Administration have joined together to collaboratively offer a program designed to provide a combined nursing and business curriculum. The MS/MBA enables graduates to strengthen their performance as leaders and managers in nursing and health care administration.

Post-Master's Certificate - Family Nurse Practitioner

This certificate is designed for master's prepared registered nurses who wish to expand their scope of practice as a family nurse practitioner. Student in this program develop their skills within a diverse, urban community specifically developing skills in critical thinking, communication, and advanced clinical decision-making. The course of study is a consecutive 12-month program beginning with the summer semester.
