Kramer School of Nursing

The Kramer School of Nursing was established in 1981 from the finest traditions in clinical nursing education. Graduates of this program will be able to provide and evaluate nursing care that addresses existing and emerging health care demands within the total community as well as in the acute care setting.

We offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, each offering a broad range of liberal arts and supportive classes designed to enhance the nursing curriculum. For students already holding an undergraduate degree, Kramer School of Nursing also offers a Master of Science in Nursing.

Unique features of the Kramer School of Nursing include:

  • State-of-the-art skills lab, which includes a critical care simulating unit with monitoring equipment;
  • Clinical experiences dealing with a variety of health problems in diverse settings, utilizing state-of-the-art hospitals and other health care facilities in greater Oklahoma City, as well as underserved areas abroad;
  • Personalized attention in small classes;
  • No limits on number of qualified students accepted;
  • Experienced faculty who bring a passion for people and nursing to the classroom;
  • Student Nurses Association offering opportunities to promote nursing and health issues.

The mission of Kramer School of Nursing is to provide unique education and service opportunities that prepare professional nurses who practice with integrity, knowledge and compassion while positively impacting the health care needs of diverse communities.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)(Traditional BSN)

Undergraduate students receive a BSN upon successful completion of the curriculum and are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for RN licensure. The School provides an academically sound curriculum that incorporates the concepts of holistic health practices in concert with traditional health care emphasizing the application and practice of the art and science of nursing.

Second Bachelor's – BSN (Bachelor's-to-BSN)

This program is an intensive 16-month track leading to a BSN degree for people who already have bachelor's degrees in other fields.

Scholarships are available, in particular for those willing to stay in Oklahoma to work after graduation for at least two years.

RN-to-BSN

The RN-to-BSN process is for students who hold an RN license to complete the BSN degree requirements in as little as nine months. This process can be used only for students who meet criteria for participation.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

The MSN degree fulfills the missions of the university and the Kramer School of Nursing by preparing nurses to become effective leaders in service to their communities. The MSN curriculum promotes the concepts of caring, responsibility, and self-care as the foundation of nursing through the implementation of the selected functional nursing role specialties.

Two tracks are available for the MSN degree:

Nursing Education

Designed to prepare the nurse to teach in post-secondary nursing programs, including schools of practical nursing, associate degree programs and baccalaureate and higher degree programs; and to provide comprehensive patient education within the health care system.

Nursing Administration

Designed to prepare the nurse to serve in middle and upper management roles, including executive leadership, within health care organizations. This track includes courses taken from the Meinders School of Business related to finance and health care administration.

MSN/MBA

A collaborative program between the Kramer School of Nursing and Meinders School of Business which prepares nurses for management roles, including executive leadership.
