Kramer School of NursingThe Kramer School of Nursing was established in 1981 from the finest traditions in clinical nursing education. Graduates of this program will be able to provide and evaluate nursing care that addresses existing and emerging health care demands within the total community as well as in the acute care setting. We offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, each offering a broad range of liberal arts and supportive classes designed to enhance the nursing curriculum. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)(Traditional BSN)Back to topUndergraduate students receive a BSN upon successful completion of the curriculum and are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for RN licensure. The School provides an academically sound curriculum that incorporates the concepts of holistic health practices in concert with traditional health care emphasizing the application and practice of the art and science of nursing. This program is an intensive 16-month track leading to a BSN degree for people who already have bachelor's degrees in other fields. Scholarships are available, in particular for those willing to stay in Oklahoma to work after graduation for at least two years. RN-to-BSNBack to topThe RN-to-BSN process is for students who hold an RN license to complete the BSN degree requirements in as little as nine months. This process can be used only for students who meet criteria for participation. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)Back to topThe MSN degree fulfills the missions of the university and the Kramer School of Nursing by preparing nurses to become effective leaders in service to their communities. The MSN curriculum promotes the concepts of caring, responsibility, and self-care as the foundation of nursing through the implementation of the selected functional nursing role specialties. Two tracks are available for the MSN degree: Nursing EducationDesigned to prepare the nurse to teach in post-secondary nursing programs, including schools of practical nursing, associate degree programs and baccalaureate and higher degree programs; and to provide comprehensive patient education within the health care system. Nursing AdministrationDesigned to prepare the nurse to serve in middle and upper management roles, including executive leadership, within health care organizations. This track includes courses taken from the Meinders School of Business related to finance and health care administration.
