Oregon Health & Science University

As part of its multifaceted public mission, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) strives for excellence in education, research, clinical practice, scholarship and community service. The University is dedicated to educating the next generation of health and high-technology professionals, scientists and environmental engineers for leadership in their fields.

While OHSU's primary education units are the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Science & Engineering, its training extends beyond the 100-acre Marquam Hill campus in Portland to every corner of the state.

OHSU facilities include:

  • Two hospitals
  • Numerous primary care and specialty clinics
  • Research institutes and centers
  • Interdisciplinary centers
  • Community service programs

Classrooms take many forms: the traditional schoolroom, a practitioner's office in rural Oregon or in the inner city, a biomedical research laboratory or a home for the elderly. The University's services provide a rich environment for clinical and research experiences for students who work side-by-side with clinicians as well as scientists.

The School of Nursing

The School of Nursing has consistently been ranked as one of the top nursing institutions in the nation and one of the top schools receiving research funding. It is dedicated to compassionate and excellent care, research and patient advocacy within an increasingly complex health care system. Our programs are responsive to the changing needs of the health care system as well as the needs of students.

We offer both undergraduate degree and graduate degree programs in a variety of formats, locations and specialties. Classes are offered at four campuses--Ashland, Klamath Falls, La Grande and Portland--and during the evenings or through intensive weekends. The School of Nursing is CCNE accredited.
