The Doctoral ProgramBack to topThe PhD degree in Nursing is designed to prepare nurse scholars for leadership in education, health-care administration, clinical practice, and research and will provide an in-depth understanding of knowledge development within the discipline of nursing through philosophical, theoretical, and scientific methods of inquiry. Students will be encouraged to select an area of concentration that will support the student's area of expertise in nursing. Potential areas of concentration include symptom management, family care-giving, quality of life, spirituality in health care, nursing education, biomedical and clinical ethics, physiological nursing, health policy, health care leadership, and behavioral health sciences.
