Point Loma Nazarene University provides higher education in the

Wesleyan tradition.

standards of professional nursing practice.
The nursing faculty of Point Loma Nazarene University is
dedicated to preparing competent, responsible practitioners who
are committed to service and leadership as professional nurses.
Graduates are able to function at an entry level of professional
practice in a wide variety of health care settings.

This is a three year nursing program. Students apply to the
program after completing one year of pre-nursing/pre-requisite
courses. An overall GPA of 2.7 is required with nothing less than
a C (2.0) in any pre-requisite course. Students may not repeat
pre-requisite courses in order to achieve a C grade. Students
receive a wide variety of clinical experiences within numerous
agencies in the community. LVNs and RNs licensed in the State of
California are accepted on a space available basis into the
program with advanced standing based on transfer of credit and
credit-by-examination.

Students who have completed a BSN degree can apply for study in
the interdisciplinary two year program to obtain an MSN with an
emphasis in Nursing Education. The Cohort model allows for small
class size and a high level of student-professor interaction.
Students elect a clinical or academic teaching emphasis and are
offered the opportunity for Advanced Practice Clinical Nurse
Specialist (CNS) Certification preparation in Mental Health,
Medical-Surgical, Gerontological or Family Health Nursing.
