Our School of Nursing has a long tradition of preparing excellent
nurses who are noted for their holistic approach to caring for
individuals, families and communities.
Our program prepares you to launch a career in areas such as
critical care, maternal-infant health, emergency care,
pediatrics, geriatrics and more. Our BSN program boasts a 97
percent NCLEX pass rate. In addition, Belmont's Family Nurse
Practitioner (FNP) graduates have a 100 percent first attempt
success on certification exams for the past four years. That is a
remarkable tribute to the educational quality received at
Belmont.
Being in Nashville we also have access to hospitals and clinical
agencies that rank in the top 100 in the country. Our students
have experiences in a wide range of inpatient and outpatient
facilities and with a diverse population.

The School of Nursing BSN program prepares you for beginning
practice as a professional nurse in a variety of health care
settings. The student's education in the liberal arts, sciences
and nursing will enable the graduate to contribute to improving
the quality of life for self, clients and community. The program

Accelerated BSN

The accelerated BSN is designed to be completed in 16 months of
full-time study. Applicants must have a prior bachelor's degree
and must have completed all prerequisite courses prior to the
beginning of the program. Students are admitted into the program
every fall semester. Belmont has a rolling admissions process;
therefore we review all applicants as we receive their completed
file.

The School of Nursing is committed to meeting the needs of
licensed Registered Nurses who would like to earn the BSN. We
value your previous nursing education and the expertise you have
gained while working as an RN. Our goal is to continue improving
our program by meeting your individual needs.
RN-BSN students may choose to progress through the program as
full-time or part-time students. The School of Nursing offers
selected RN-BSN nursing courses on a one day a week schedule or
in the evening. In addition, some RN-BSN course content will be
available via the World Wide Web.

Advancing Your Nursing Career
If you are ready to take the next step in your nursing career,
Belmont University School of Nursing is ready to help you. The
Master of Science in Nursing curriculum is designed to provide a
plan of study in the advanced practice option of Family Nurse
Practitioner (FNP) or role option of Nurse Educator with an
emphasis in Adult Health. This program also provides a foundation
for doctoral study.
The nurse educator program at the master's level builds upon
baccalaureate nursing preparation. Program courses and content
are organized to facilitate the progression of student learning
from that of a baccalaureate generalist to that of a specialist.
The curriculum has two dimensions: core and specialization. Core
courses are taken by all students and include theory, research,
economics, statistics and issues. Specialty courses are based
upon the area of specialization.
Our small classes, flexible schedule, individualized faculty
attention and skilled preceptors provide students with the tools
to succeed in today's changing health care environment.

Advanced Practice Option
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) graduates enjoy
significant professional flexibility and marketability.
Prepared to practice in a variety of settings, FNPs provide
primary health care to families and individuals of all ages.
Graduates are prepared to sit for national certification as
Family Nurse Practitioners.
Advanced Role Option
The Nurse Educator Track prepares graduates for
positions as entry-level faculty in schools of nursing as well
as positions in staff development in various health care
settings.
Post Master's Options

The Nurse Educator track is designed for individuals who
already possess a master's degree in nursing and are interested
in teaching nursing students or nursing staff. Course work and
clinical experiences are designed to assist the learner to
acquire the knowledge and skills required for a nurse educator
role in academia or clinical practice.
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track is an option for
nurses who are prepared at the MSN level in a clinical specialty
other than FNP. Course work and clinical experiences are designed
to assist the learner to acquire the knowledge and skills
required for the primary care nurse practitioner role. After
completing the program, students are eligible to sit for the
national Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam.
