Second Degree in Nursing (Advanced Generalist Masters)

Students with a prior degree in a field other than nursing, who are interested in nursing as a career, have two options at UW-Milwaukee. You can apply to our Bachelor's degree program in Nursing which prepares you to become a Registered Nurse or to our Advanced Generalist Master's (AGM) program to pursue a career as a graduate prepared nurse.

The Advanced Generalist Master's program in nursing at UWM prepares graduates for advanced generalist nursing practice in culturally diverse urban communities at the point of care. The program educates clinical nurse leaders who can function independently and collaboratively at the microsystems level to provide care for individuals, families, and populations within the context of population-based health.
