Western Career College

Founded in 1967 in Sacramento, California, the Western Career College philosophy emphasizes outcome-based learning. Our focus on retention, placement and job performance results in graduates who are highly qualified and motivated employees. The health care community benefits from outcome-based learning and the college’s flexibility in adapting to the community’s changing employment needs. The college opened the San Leandro campus in 1986 and the Pleasant Hill campus in 1997.

Western Career College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Vocational Nursing - Associate's and Certificate

Vocational nurses play a vital role in the delivery of health care, and demand for qualified vocational nurses has never been greater. Earn your Associate in Science degree or Certificate as a Vocational Nurse at Western Career College. The vocational nursing program can prepare you for a rewarding career as a vocational nurse who is competent to practice under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed physician/dentist in a variety of structured institutional and community settings. The program develops a nurse who is able to provide nursing care for clients who are experiencing common, well-defined health problems. It provides a foundation for continued acquisition and utilization of knowledge necessary for success of the student as a vocational nurse and as an individual, or to proceed into our registered nursing bridge program. Employment opportunities for graduates include positions in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, doctor's offices, clinics, correctional facilities and home health agencies.
