In the academic year 2004-2005, the School celebrated a 91.2% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN. For the past two years, our graduates reported 100% employment within 2 months. Our alumni serve as Chief Nursing Officers, Vice Presidents of Nursing, Chief Operating Officers, Executive Directors, Nurse Managers, clinicians and bedside nurses. Alumni sit on governmental boards and many have received federal grants.

Dedicated and Highly-Qualified Faculty

Faculty are invited presenters at local, national and international conferences e.g. the STTI 16th International Nursing Research Congress in Hawaii, the Geropsychiatric Nursing: State of the Future Conference at the University of Pennsylvania and the Florida International University of Nursing's Annual Research Conference. Some of our faculty accomplishments include publications in peer-reviewed journals and research studies such as: Patterns of Parkinson's Medication Usage, Dr. C. Lindgren, The Legalities of Students' Use of Technology in Clinical Settings, Dr. Pegge Bell, Promoting Student Leadership Through Community Service, Dr. Linda Perkel and Developing an Outcomes Management Program in a School of Nursing, Dr.Claudette Spalding.

Whether you are a high school graduate, an RN seeking a combination of classroom and online BSN program, a non-nursing post-baccalaureate student who wants to be a nurse or a nurse master's prepared, seeking a PhD, you will find our program options have been designed taking into account your needs and industry trends.

Basic BSN Program

For high school graduates or those who have a few college credits, we offer a Basic BSN Program that prepares you to enter nursing practice, progress to positions requiring administrative skills and prepare for graduate study in nursing.

Accelerated BSN Program

If you hold a bachelor's degree and would like to practice nursing, don't dismiss this as an impossible dream. You can achieve your goal at Barry. With the right qualifications and prerequisites, you can finish all required nursing courses in 15 months in our Accelerated BSN Program. This program is also open to students who have completed all the liberal arts requirements and have obtained a 3.0 GPA.

Are you an LPN seeking your BSN? You could test out of some of the coursework. You will also be provided a personal advisor to work with you to determine your course of study.

RN-to-BSN and RN/BS-to-MSN Bridge Option

RNs who are graduates of state-approved diploma or associate's degree programs, find our RN-to-BSN program responsive to their needs.

In addition to the traditional program, RNs with bachelor's degrees in fields other than nursing can move directly to the MSN in the RN/BS-to-MSN bridge option.

Barry's Post-Master's Certificate Program can prepare you to act as advocate, role model, liaison and change agent for the nursing profession, the client and the community. You can specialize in:

  • Nursing Administration
  • Nursing Education
  • Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Barry's acute care nurse practitioner program is the only one in the country with education and leadership components. The family nurse practitioner program also offers an administrative and leadership component.

PhD Program

Our PhD program is a community of scholars endeavoring to discover or extend knowledge that advances the science and practice of nursing and contributes to the knowledge base of other disciplines. To accommodate your needs, both a traditional part-time academic year program and a full time summer residency program are offered.
