Since becoming the first University in New Jersey to offer a
baccalaureate nursing program in 1937, Seton Hall's College of
Nursing has firmly established itself as a leading center of
scholarship, teaching and practice in the profession.
Today, whether on-campus, off-campus or online, there are many
flexible and rewarding ways to achieve our widely-respected and
fully accredited degrees.
Situated on a 58-acre main campus in South Orange, New Jersey,
Seton Hall is a vibrant research and teaching community, where
students and academics have found inspiration to grow and succeed
for more than 150 years.
As well as being conveniently located near major road and rail
links to the north and south of the state, SHU is only 14 miles
from New York City, making it the ideal base to explore
everything the region has to offer.
Our signature four year degree program lays the foundations for a
successful career in nursing, combining in-depth theory, hands-on
learning and extensive clinical practice exposure.
As the most established baccalaureate nursing degree in New
Jersey, our program has a well-respected heritage of educational
achievement and a reputation for producing nurses whose skills
are highly valued by patients, employers and colleagues alike.
The College has continually refined its curriculum over the years
and prides itself on offering the most up-to-date education
available to students. The first two years combine liberal arts
and sciences elements and basic theoretical nursing courses.
Major clinical nursing courses are taken in the junior and senior
years.

program is the choice of many registered nurses who feel it is
time to add a baccalaureate degree to their substantial patient
care expertise.
Designed to meet the needs of working professionals, who often
need to balance a number of existing commitments, our program
gives nurses the choice of taking courses on-campus in South
Orange, at satellite sites across New Jersey, or online in the
comfort of their own home.
Clinical Nurse Leader
For students with a baccalaureate degree in a non-nursing major,
our intensive 22-month program leads to a master's-level
qualification and is the ideal way to begin a nursing career.
The CNL program follows a sophisticated, patient-centered
syllabus which prepares nurses to operate effectively in a
multidisciplinary health care environment and provide leadership
to their teams.
Eight clinical role development courses are a central part of the
program, providing students with the theoretical grounding and
clinical experience needed to care for patients in a variety of
circumstances: from the childbearing family to the critically ill
patient.
The final semester consists of an intensive clinical experience
to further develop professional leadership and clinical skills. A
variety of hospitals and community agencies provide College
students with the best possible learning experiences in all areas
of nursing practice.
