This online degree completion program provides current registered nurses who have a hospital diploma or associate degree in nursing with the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Changing job placements in health care organizations and evolving demands by diverse populations for superior health care delivery, and pending legislation in several states (NY,IA), are propelling the nursing industry to establish a bachelor's degree as minimum preparation to practice.

Walden's BSN curriculum has been designed by nursing experts and provides an in-depth understanding of evidence-based practices that can be applied on the job immediately. The curriculum is based on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials of Master's Education and the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators-the same standards used to create the essentials of magnetism for magnet hospitals.

Master's in Nursing - Informatics

Learn how you can more effectively utilize information technology to enhance the quality of patient care. This specialization offers a multidisciplinary approach to informatics by blending nursing science, computer science and information science. Coursework focuses on such key areas as information systems, database concepts, and effective project management. Fieldwork experience provides you with the opportunity to apply your new knowledge immediately.

Students who enter the program with a bachelor's degree in nursing complete the core curriculum and then progress on to the courses in the nursing informatics specialization.
