National University is the second-largest, accredited, private, nonprofit institution of higher learning in California with the third largest graduate program in the country. Founded in 1971, National consists of five schools and one college, including the Schools of Business and Management; Education; Engineering and Technology; Health and Human Services; and Media and Communications; and the College of Letters and Sciences.

National University offers 100 undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as 16 teacher credential and certificate programs. A leader in online education, National University offers more than 40 graduate and undergraduate degree programs and over 300 courses online.

Accreditation

Since 1977, National University has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The University is also approved by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

School of Health and Human Services

The National University School of Health and Human Services was formed in 2005 to address the growing need for trained health care professionals in California and throughout the country. As the shortage of nursing and health care professionals continues to expand, National University will provide the training and degree programs to prepare students for careers in these rewarding fields.

Online RN-to-Bachelor of Science in Nursing

This program is designed for already licensed, registered nurses seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

Coursework for the program includes classes in:

  • Professional Nursing Values
  • Pharmacology for Nurses
  • Nursing in the Community: Health Care Delivery
  • Nursing Leadership and Management
  • Introduction to Nursing Research

To be eligible for admission to the BSN program at National University, candidates must satisfy all of the following criteria:

  • Have completed the National University undergraduate admission process
  • Hold a current, active license to practice as a registered nurse in the state/country where clinical experiences will be completed
  • Have achieved a grade point average of 2.75 or the equivalent in the basic nursing program
  • Be a graduate of an associate degree in nursing program or meet equivalency requirements for National University
  • Submit the appropriate nursing program application
  • Complete the ACCUPLACER math and English tests
