Some campuses offer a combined campus-based and online learning format. While widely available, not all learning formats are offered at all locations.

Campus-Based Learning Format

  • Attend class just once a week. Classes are offered in the evening or on weekends. Some campuses offer day classes.
  • Complete homework assignments on your own, as well as with your learning team.

Online Learning Format

Providing the flexibility of a 100% online education.

  • Complete coursework through electronic forums
  • Download lectures and assignments from your student website and study them at your convenience.
  • Login to class at least four days per week for University of Phoenix or three days per week for Axia College of University of Phoenix. You choose the days and times.

The program blends nursing theory with advanced practice concepts necessary to successfully work within the structure, culture, and mission of any size health care organization or educational setting. The Master of Science in Nursing / Nurse Practitioner programs courses require the student to complete 46 graduate credits.

The Master of Science in Nursing / Health Care Education program enhances the knowledge and skills of registered nurses with baccalaureate-degree preparation. The program prepares advanced practice nurses to function in leadership roles in practice and educational settings. Advanced nursing theory and research provide the foundation for nurses to influence the future of nursing and health care. This course series is designed for nursing and health care professionals interested in pursuing or advancing in careers as faculty in higher educational settings.

Those with no background in higher education receive a strong foundation for the many dimensions of the faculty role. Current educators can update or expand their knowledge in curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, and instructional strategies. This credit-bearing specialization is also available as a certificate program for post-baccalaureate students.

This program is designed to provide nurses with a unique blend of advanced nursing and healthcare related business skills to manage in today's evolving health care delivery systems. The program combines essential elements from both degree programs to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively examine and evaluate issues and trends impacting health care.

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is designed for those nurses who want to pursue more advanced positions in today's challenging health care environment. The program blends nursing theory and advanced practice concepts necessary to successful work within the structure, culture and mission of any size health care organization or educational setting. The MSN program consists of three major areas: the core, the major and the cognate. The core incorporates the major foci of the Master of Science in Nursing degree: the theory of nursing influence, influence of nursing research and on the advanced practice of nursing. The major includes advanced course work in nursing: management of families and aggregates, administration and education.

The Master of Health Care Administration (MHA) curriculum focuses on the content related to finance, economics, policy, quality improvement, marketing and strategic planning. In addition, students complete course work in concepts related to public health, long term care and health care informatics. Graduates will have enhanced their management/administrative backgrounds through a curriculum that provides students with the ability to apply theory to contemporary practice applications. Graduates are able to define their role within the health care system and understand how to make necessary changes to create a work environment which is team oriented and motivating to others.

This certificate is designed for health care and nursing professionals interested in pursuing careers in educational or service settings. Current educators can update or expand their knowledge in curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, and revitalize their teaching and learning strategies. Combining your current professional expertise with the knowledge of teaching and learning strategies, assessment and evaluation and curriculum, and program design will expand and enhance your role as a health care educator. Content can be applied to patient teaching, continuing education or in-service education, community health education, as well as to the role and delivery of academic education.

The certificate program is open to post baccalaureate students and these graduate credits will also apply toward the completion of a graduate degree in nursing and education. Course work will provide a foundation of knowledge for the novice educator, as well as having the flexibility of providing current faculty with new applications and practical skills.

Post-Master's Certificate - Family Nurse Practitioner

The Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master's Certificate is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and skills of registered nurses. It is also designed for those nurses who want to pursue more advanced positions in today's challenging health care environment. Additionally, this program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC).

The program blends nursing theory with advanced practice concepts necessary to successfully work within the structure, culture and mission of any size health care organization or educational setting. This program allows a master's prepared nurse to complete a nurse practitioner program and apply for state licensure and sit for National Certification Exam as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This program contains 33 credits.
