The University of Miami

The University of Miami is comprised of 14 schools and colleges and offers a wide selection of academic disciplines, from accounting to women's studies. The four campuses include Coral Gables, UM's main campus, the Medical campus, located in downtown Miami next to Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Rosenstiel campus on Virginia Key, and the South campus in south Miami-Dade county.

School of Nursing and Health Studies

As South Florida's first baccalaureate nursing program in 1948, and the first in Florida to offer the doctorate in nursing in 1985, the School of Nursing has a history of leading the way in nursing education. The School was one of the first in the country to offer the nurse practitioner program in 1973. Two years after introducing the master's in nursing in 1976, the School added nurse midwifery and psychiatric-mental health nursing options. The school is accredited by the NLNAC, and the Midwifery program is accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
