Founded in 1972, Concordia University Irvine (CUI) is a Christian
liberal arts institution committed to developing the whole
person, and preparing graduates to be wise, honorable and
cultivated citizens. Concordia students learn how to overcome
challenges, communicate clearly, understand various cultures,
know the Christian faith and exercise servant leadership. CUI is
defined by two overriding values: faithfulness and excellence in
education.
The campus is situated on 70 acres atop a hillside overlooking
the beautiful city of Irvine, California. Located in the heart of
Orange County, Irvine is one of the most attractive and fastest
growing areas in the nation, only minutes away from beaches,
shops and outdoor activities.
Concordia University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission
for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association
of Schools and Colleges (WASC), 985 Atlantic Avenue, Suite 100,
Alameda, CA 94501, (510) 748-9001. Students and other interested
parties may review the WASC "Statement of Accreditation Status"
for Concordia at the
WASC website.
The WASC accreditation process aids institutions in developing
and sustaining effective educational programs and assures the
educational community, the general public and other organizations
that an accredited institution has met high standards of quality
and effectiveness.
The nursing program will seek accreditation by the Commission on
Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) once nursing classes begin.
RN-to-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Do you have your community college degree and RN? Want your BSN,
but can't stop working? Come to Concordia to complete your BSN
evenings and weekends with this new, innovative and flexible
nursing program attuned to the needs of the working nurse!
Concordia's RN-to-BSN program is intended for nurses desiring to
raise their level of professional knowledge and skill in nursing.
If you are a graduate of an associate's degree program in nursing
(ADN) or a nursing diploma program, and have a current and clear
California RN license to practice, this program is designed for
you! Depending on each candidate's accumulated credits
transferred in, it is possible to receive a BSN in one year
(three semesters).
Nursing courses are held on weeknights and weekends to
accommodate nurses' working schedules. The program includes 90
hours of clinical experience in a public health setting to
prepare candidates to apply for the California Public Health
Certificate. Additionally, those desiring part-time attendance
will be assisted by a nursing advisor to design a program to meet
their needs.
All aspects of the RN-to-BSN program will reflect Concordia's
Christian values orientation--in world view, in relationships
with patients and their families, and in a servant leadership
approach to the profession of nursing.
