Associate of Science in NursingBack to topKeiser University's Associate of Science in Nursing prepares students to practice professional nursing. Professional nursing involves the performance of those acts requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skill based upon applied principles of biological, physical, psychological and social sciences. The nursing practice of a professional nurse includes observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation of care, health teaching and counseling of individuals (who may be ill, injured or infirm), promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, prevention of illness, and administration of treatments and medications as prescribed in accordance with the standards of nursing practice. The RN will be prepared for a broader scope of practice and for entry into master's or doctoral nursing programs. Special emphasis will be given to the preparation of a nurse who is educated in the allocation and management of physical, fiscal, and human resources.
