Diploma in Practical NursingThe curriculum is designed to provide students the training needed to enter into the field of practical nursing. Upon completion, the Diploma in Practical Nursing program offers students opportunities to file an application with the Ohio Board of Nursing to sit for the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX©-PN). Associate's in NursingRegistered nursing is the process of using knowledge and health restoration, health promotion, disease (illness) prevention, and management of chronic disease to assist individuals and families to successfully adapt and live in a state of high level wellness. Registered nurses have a responsibility to be knowledgeable about theories, principles and applications of biological and social sciences. The Associate's in Nursing program is a professional adult education program containing 71 semester credit-hours of training. The program consists of courses, labs and clinical experiences that must be taken in sequence, according to the curriculum plan. Material learned in the classroom is practiced in the laboratory and applied to the care of patients in the clinical setting. Pharmacology, growth and development, nutrition, community health, and nursing principles and skills are integrated into all nursing courses. The graduates of this program receives an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) and will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX©) to become a registered nurse (RN) in Ohio.
