The Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing

The Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing (FSMFN) has been educating midwives and nurse practitioners for over 65 years. Its innovative community-based graduate program enables registered nurses to earn their master's degrees and advance in exciting health care professions.

The Frontier School offers:

  • Clinical experience with practitioners in your own community
  • New classes starting 4-6 times each year
  • Full-time (24-month) and part-time study options
  • Distance education courses via a rich, web-based community of faculty and learners

ADN to MSN Bridge (Online)

The ADN to MSN Bridge is an entry option to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program for nurses without a bachelor's degree in any field. The Bridge consists of seven courses (20 credits) designed to "bridge" the differences between the educational preparation of the associate's degree nurse and the baccalaureate nurse. These seven courses will be completed over 12 months in four 12-week terms, prior to the start of the student's designated specialty track in the master's program. The remainder of the coursework for the MSN is completed in approximately two years; thus, the total time for the ADN nurse to become a nurse-midwife or nurse practitioner is just three years!
