Table of Contents
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)Back to topSaint Anthony College of Nursing offers the last two years of a 4-year bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree. These last two years build on the broad base of two academic years (64 semester hours) transferred from another regionally accredited college or university. To this end, cooperative aggreements have been reached with several of the community colleges in the area. The BSN program prepares individuals to function as caring, competent, professional nurses in beginning leadership roles and as knowledgeable consumers of nursing research. These professional nurses are prepared to participate in the emerging health needs of a changing society. The academic program, based on Orem's theoretical framework, is implemented in an environment which encourages free inquiry, creativity, and decision-making for faculty, students, and staff. This program builds on knowledge from liberal arts and sciences while integrating Christian ideals, values, and practices. Located on the campus of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, the region's pioneer in cardiac, cancer, trauma and orthopedic care, Saint Anthony College of Nursing provides BSN students with real-world, clinically intensive experiences. Saint Anthony College of Nursing BSN students have the opportunity to gain experience in ambulatory, home health and other specialty care centers.
