The School of Nursing

The School of Nursing at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing with classes offered on campus, online and at our newest facility in Springfield. The School of Nursing is home to the state-of-the-art Simulated Learning Center for the Health Sciences, a technologically advanced laboratory providing students with opportunities to learn in simulated settings. Students also learn clinical nursing skills at a variety of off-campus sites, including hospitals, nursing homes and home health care agencies in the Metro-East area, St. Louis, Missouri; and throughout central and southern Illinois.

Our faculty also have advanced preparation in many clinical specializations and fields, including gerontological nursing, maternal-child nursing, medical-surgical nursing, mental health nursing, pediatric nursing and public health nursing, as well as nurse practitioner and nurse anesthesia. Faculty maintain an active role in clinical practice, research, scholarly inquiry and professional service.

The SIUE School of Nursing has set the standard in the region by being the first to acquire adult and pediatric human patient simulators as the focal points of our psychomotor skills lab. For the 2004-2005 academic year, the School of Nursing ranks in the top 9% nationally of schools reporting NCLEX scores.

Accreditation

The School of Nursing is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); the graduate specialization in nurse anesthesia is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.
