University of Michigan Flint/Hurley Medical Center Nursing Program: Theoretical and clinical learning experiences prepare the student to provide care for the acutely and chronically ill and also to instruct clients in health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. BSN students also develop administrative skills necessary to manage the health care needs of clients in a variety of settings. For today's professional nurse, a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is essential. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education through 2015.
MSN ProgramBack to topThe mission of the University of Michigan-Flint's Master of Science in Nursing program is to prepare advanced practice nurses who will deliver high quality, cost effective primary health care. Graduates meet the health care needs of society in general and under-served populations through theory-based nursing practice and scholarly endeavors. The graduate program faculty promote the mission and vision of the University of Michigan Department of Nursing by supporting the further development of critical thinking, humanistic and scientific inquiry, and understanding human and cultural diversity. The mission is enhanced by faculty maintaining clinical expertise, academic excellence and a sensitivity to our partners in the diverse communities to which we serve. The Master of Science in Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education through 2015. MSN faculty are sensitive to students' busy lives and designed the graduate program for part-time students. It includes Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health tracks.
MS in AnesthesiaBack to topThe Master of Science in Anesthesia is offered through the University of Michigan-Flint's Anesthesia Department in conjunction with Hurley Medical Center in Flint. The MS in Anesthesia is designed to educate qualified registered nurses to be highly skilled, proficient and competent health care practitioners in anesthesia by providing a wide range of experiences both in and out of the classroom. The anesthesia program combines academic and clinical anesthesia courses taught at Hurley Medical Center and the University of Michigan-Flint. The program is dedicated to its graduates' achievements in such areas as preoperative medication, anesthesia, and management of post-anesthetic recovery. The Master of Science in Anesthesia program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program through 2014.
