Bachelor of Science in NursingBack to topBaccalaureate education at the LSN is characterized by clinical practice and community outreach and service. The 4-year entry-level degree program provides students with a broad base in liberal arts and sciences as well as a wide range of professional skills and techniques. The program features clinical practice in a variety of settings, faculty who teach in both the classroom and clinical areas, a fully-staffed Learning Resource Center and a three-year program for qualified transfer students. Accelerated Combined Degree Program (BSN/MS or MA)Back to topThe Combined Degree Program (BSN/MS or MA) prepares students who have a baccalaureate degree in another field to become registered nurses. The BSN portion is a specially designed, accelerated curriculum, which is completed in 3 semesters of full-time study or 6 semesters of full-time study for those lacking science prerequisites. Six graduate credits in the BSN are double-counted for the optional Master's. MS - Family Nurse PractitionerBack to topOne of the first FNP programs in New York State, Lienhard has been preparing FNPs for 35 years. Through our innovative, hybrid approach of core courses offered online and specialty courses offered live in both Westchester and New York City, we offer today's busy graduate student the best of both worlds in higher education. All clinical courses are provided with an evidence-based practice approach. Graduation from the program provides eligibility for certification by the State of New York as a family nurse practitioner as well as the ability to take the national certification exam. Please note that the nurse practitioner core courses and some electives will also be offered in an online format for your convenience, effective Fall 2006. MA - Nursing EducationBack to topThe Master of Arts (MA) in Nursing Education prepares students to assume the leadership role of educator in a variety of educational and clinical practice settings. The specialty in education provides students with the latest concepts, theories and ideas that support sound educational practice in today's complex health care and learning environments. Content will include adult learning theories, chaos theory, learning styles of the millennial student and baby boomer work force, use of technology for learning and for teaching, how to work within settings that have great diversity of students, educational policies and key legislative issues. Curriculum design, assessment and evaluation techniques, and strategies for successful clinical and didactic teaching will be studied. This is an exciting program with which to begin an educational career. This program is offered online. Clinical opportunities will be offered in the student's locale.
