The University of Rochester, founded in 1850, is a private,
coeducational institution that ranks among the most highly
regarded universities in the country. A member of the prestigious
Association of American Universities, Rochester offers degree
programs at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels.
The city of Rochester is the third largest metropolitan area in
New York. One million residents enjoy the beauty of upstate New
York, including the Finger Lakes region, Lake Ontario, Niagara
Falls and 11,000 acres of parkland locally.
There are many factors that distinguish the University of
Rochester School of Nursing from other educational programs, but
one stands above the rest--our commitment to the unification
model--blending nursing practice and research into every aspect
of our educational programs.
The School of Nursing is part of the University of Rochester
Medical Center, which includes the School of Medicine and
Dentistry and 750-bed Strong Memorial Hospital, a tertiary care
hospital and the region's trauma center.
The School of Nursing includes a state-of-the-art Clinical and
Educational Resource Center, including a skills laboratory and
computer laboratory. Students have access to the University of
Rochester's extensive library collections, over 3 million
volumes, 10,000 periodicals and a wide range of biomedical
databases. The school programs are accredited by the National
League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and registered
with the New York State Education Department.
